Christina's Story
For 25 years I battled with addiction off and on, through some of the darkest, most painful moments of my life. I've faced trauma, heartbreak, and times where I didn't think I'd make it through. There were moments I truly didn't want to live anymore. But somehow, by grace, and grit, I kept going. This blog is my safe space to share my story raw, real, and unfiltered. It's a place for healing, for hope, and for connection. I want others who are struggling to know they're not alone. Recovery is possible. Change is possible. You are possible. Whether you're here to find inspiration, support someone you love, or walk your own road to recovery, I welcome you with an open heart. Together, let's break the silence, shatter the stigma, and rise from the ashes.
The History of Whispers of the Heart Recovery Foundation
Whispers of the Heart Recovery Foundation was born out of lived experience, gratitude, and a deep desire to ensure that no one in recovery feels forgotten. Its story begins with my very own journey through Glass House rehab, where I graduated on April 28, 2025. That milestone was more than a personal victory it became the seed of a vision to transform encouragement into a movement.
Founding Spark
• After appearing on the news to thank Officer Platte for saving my life and later to encourage others that they are not alone, I realized the power of testimony.
• I began writing weekly letters to residents and staff at Glass House and Holden House, reminding them of their worth and that recovery is possible. These letters became the “Whispers of the Heart” that inspired the foundation’s name.
Early Outreach
• The foundation started with simple but profound acts: heartfelt letters, certificates to honor milestones, and prayers that carried hope into places where despair often lingered.
• Myself and my partner Charles, both walking our own recovery paths, are hoping to expand this mission by organizing community events, including a recovery walk to celebrate strength and unity.
Season of Giving
• One of the foundation’s earliest initiatives was gathering Christmas gift bags for men and women in treatment at Glass House and Holden House. The goal was clear: no one should feel forgotten during the holidays.
• These efforts reflected the foundation’s belief that tangible tokens of love whether a gift, a certificate, or a letter can become anchors of hope.
Vision for the Future
• Whispers of the Heart is more than a foundation; it is a movement of recognition, encouragement, and second chances.
• I have dreams of expanding it into a Recovery Center where families can heal together, offering apartment-style living, therapy, meetings, and resources so parents and children are never separated during treatment.

About whispers of the heart
Whispers of the Heart began as a personal project, born from the desire to create a supportive space for individuals navigating addiction recovery. Our mission is to provide a platform where stories of resilience can inspire hope and foster a sense of community. We believe that by sharing our experiences, we can empower each other to overcome challenges and build brighter futures. What started as heartfelt letters of encouragement to those in treatment quickly grew into a movement. Each letter carried a whisper of faith, love, and belief in second chances reminders that no one is alone in their journey. These small acts of kindness became the heartbeat of Whispers of the Heart, shaping its identity as a foundation rooted in compassion and recognition.
